Retreats: Schedules: Silent Weeks

Silent Weeks with Sandra Gonzalez

The silent weeks are led by Sandra Gonzalez and are currently held twice a year in late winter and early fall (see Calendar). Silent weeks comprise a two-week period and are scheduled between two retreats. When combined with the more formal retreats, silent weeks provide the opportunity for a month-long retreat.

Silent weeks combine a schedule of untimed sittings. group dialogue meetings, and the option for private meetings with Sandra Gonzalez. Participants will have input into the sitting and meeting schedule. Silent weeks offer the possibility to look and question, alone and together, in simplicity and without authority.

The entire schedule is optional. Part-time participants are welcome.

Participants volunteer for an hour each day. During silent weeks, the Center operates as usual with staff working a regular schedule. On work days (Tuesday to Saturday), the noise level may vary. Weekends (Sunday and Monday) are generally quiet. The sitting room and balcony areas are always kept silent.

Silent weeks participants will have single rooms, unless they request to stay with another person. Space is limited.
