April 2006 Retreat
Day 5
- The separateness, almost aggression in the statement, "I know you."
- Often the bulk of our internal complaints about someone is untrue!
- Or not complete, therefore not true.
- It's fun to listen to all sides, to not have to be the one in the know. (29 mins)

June 2006 Retreat
Day 6
- "Where to begin meditative work?"
- A beginning that doesn't stop beginning, but refreshes itself.
- The secret of unhappiness.
- Walking in nature, taking everything in, whatever comes up.
- Uncultivated patience - no need to be patient when we're fully here (30 mins)

July 2006 Retreat at Southern Dharma Center
Day 1
- Can thoughts be allowed to quiet on their own? We think we're in charge.
- Listening to a waterfall of thought without becoming someone in it.
- One listening, no need to discriminate and compare.
- Breath awareness. Fine if we pay the breath notice, but it needn't be a practice.
- Learning in which nothing need be retained
|
Day 2
- Being quiet with thought noise - spaciousness comes when the "I" is not involved.
- No intention in "sinking," awaring - it's letting down the guard.
- Silence is dying to effort, to the feeling I have to do something, be someone.
- A dying and being born into all that's here, in all simplicity.
- Is meditation selfish? Seeking a cocoon of peace, maybe.
- But meditation which opens to everything, so we can respond appropriately?

September 2006 Retreat
Day 5
- Interest itself calls forth quietness, slowing down.
- To take everything in with the entirety of one's being.
- Interest - the freedom to be, to feel, to touch, and to look at what gets in the way.
- Can everything be allowed to fall away? (29 mins)
