You are welcome to visit as a guest outside of retreat. Guests are asked to volunteer for one hour of work each day. Suggested Contributions for Staying as a Guest
Please contact us to visit as a guest. You are limited to a five-week maximum stay on your first visit. If you wish to visit for more than a week, staff must approve your proposal first.
Meetings with teachers are available for both Guests and Volunteers. Please contact us for more information.
You can volunteer with us outside of retreat in exchange for room and meals. Volunteer work is usually in the kitchen, housekeeping, painting, construction, or summer gardening. If you have skills or limitations with these jobs, please let us know us when you apply.
Volunteers must pay for retreats they attend while visiting. Like staff, volunteers work from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. five days a week. Our work week is Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday and Monday off. You must work a full week to get the days off without charge. It may be possible to make arrangements to volunteer half-days and pay guest charges at a reduced rate, however you must pay for accommodation all days and meals on days off, and these arrangements are made on a case-by-case basis, depending on the Center’s needs and activities at the time.

The sitting room is available at any time. You may also sit in your room or other areas of the building, as well as on the many benches placed along the trails..
The atmosphere here is generally quiet, although we are not silent outside of retreats. Guests can be silent if they wish. Expect to hear sounds of daily life such as conversations, kitchen appliances, vacuums, power tools, music, television, etc. It is usually possible to find a quiet place in the building.
