Sunlight and shadow…trees and rustling leaves…sensations\, thoughts\, and feelings. \nIn this retreat we will explore together the wonder of spacious awareness. In the stillness and silence of simply being\, of listening\, of curiosity\, we can slow down and explore the timeless presence that is so transparently here. \nAnd we will explore and experience\, through movement and somatic inquiry\, the flowing nature of embodied being. The miracle of being spacious and timeless…and so physically and intimately here in everyday life. \nExploring and opening our hearts to this intimate river of being embodied. Feeling into and being the spacious flow of life. \nOur daily rhythms will include quiet sitting\, movement and somatic inquiry\, and the invitation to walk in nature on our miles of trails. There will be daily talks\, group inquiry\, and individual meetings with Richard. DESCRIPTION:This retreat has options for in-person or online attendance\, and will be facilitated as a parallel retreat by Richard Witteman. Bells will be rung and talks will be given from the sitting room in-person and via Zoom. Group dialogues will be held in the sitting room without technology for in-person participants and exclusively via Zoom for online participants. Please note that COVID rates continue being monitored and could result in changes to retreat format. We welcome questions about our cancellation policy and options available if the retreat format were to shift due to COVID. \nRichard has been leading retreats at Springwater since 2003. He began meditative work in 1971 and was a student of Roshi Philip Kapleau at the Rochester Zen Center for ten years. In 1982 he began working with Toni Packer\, and has been part of Springwater Center since its inception. He writes: \n\n\nRetreat is an invitation to wonder and curiosity. An invitation to soften around our ideas of what life is or should be\, and to enter into the fullness of our moment to moment experience. To be here in the same spirit of curiosity we had as children – where everything is fresh and unknown.\n\nThere is space to pause\, to slow down–to see and feel and listen\, to question and explore. To be intimately in silence\, in the fullness of whatever is here\, whatever we are experiencing. Sunlight and shadow…trees and rustling leaves…sensations\, thoughts\, and feelings…the movements of our bodies. Space to simply be…resting in this presence that is here.
