Friends, there’s no better time than now to take a look at the Calendar and plan for your participation at the Center in the coming months. If you wish to attend a retreat in person at the Center this spring or summer, please know that applications are already being received and the Center has a first come, first served policy for the limited number of rooms available.

There is also the option to attend online, but if you wish to be in the natural beauty of Springwater, it would be wise to apply soon. 

Information about March and April retreats and All-Day Sittings is shown below. 

You are invited to attend this All-Day Sitting in person at the Center or online from your location. 

Richard Witteman will lead this All-Day Sitting from his home in California. The talk will be shared live at Springwater Center and the sitting room will be arranged so that Richard and other online participants can take part in the afternoon dialogue. 

Richard spoke recently of the opportunity to join Springwater Center events from one’s home, saying, “There is something wonderful about experiencing the deep silence in our own homes, inviting us to incorporate the spirit of sitting together into our daily living amidst the challenges of family life and relationship.”

Stew Glick will lead two events at the Center in April. 

Stew began working with Toni Packer, the Center’s founder, in the mid-seventies. He did administrative work on staff for many years. Toni invited Stew to continue the teaching work and he has led retreats since the 1990’s.

Visit Stew’s website page to hear a talk Stew gave at the October 2023 retreat at Springwater Center. 

In the talk, Stew asks “How do we deal with uncertainty? What is the relationship between what we do here at Springwater Center with what is going on in the world? Let’s look at the difficulties we face in our relationships. Is there blaming going on? This just adds to the suffering. Is it possible to see that there is no one to blame?”

He went on to add, “An important ingredient of meditative inquiry is the act of open listening, wondering and not knowing.” Saying, “This can happen all alone or together with like-minded people.” 

Spring is a popular time here to be quiet with all the beautiful surroundings and each other. If you would like to attend in person for either or both events, it’s advisable to apply soon. Applying for online attendance is usually possible up to the day before the event. 

Only limited space is available to stay as a guest before or after the April 6 All-Day Sitting. Please contact the Center before requesting a guest stay that weekend.

Proxy ballots for the June 2 online Annual meeting will be mailed in April to Springwater Center members. Please contact the Center with your new postal address if you have recently moved.

Also, a reminder that membership dues need to be current to be eligible to receive the proxy ballot. Get in touch with the financial office at info@springwatercenter.org if you are uncertain if your dues are current.

There will be a gathering in memory of Susan Schepp at the Center on Sunday, April 28. More information will be in the next news update, and will be shown on Susan’s website page. 

Please contact reception if you wish to visit the Center as a guest or volunteer this spring or summer. Help is often needed and welcome, especially as it becomes possible to work outdoors in the garden or maintaining the trails.
